If I Could Write You A Poem…

“Before I Let Go”

What Are We Waiting For

You eclipse my fears,
Easing my pain.
You had me at “Yes dear.”
Like a bad dream,
Too anxious, I accepted the wrong steed.
No longer asleep, but deeply ashamed,
To take the high road, I detoured.
Sad and scarred,
Yet determined to make it on my own,
Creating shelter for a filly,
Beautiful and innocent too.
Another came along,
More magnificent and proud,
He slowed to my pace,
He walked alongside me,
Patient and strong
Mesmerized, my hand reached,
And I caressed a silky mane.
Satisfied by touch,
Enough to last a lifetime.
Yet no longer naive,
Fear made me bound ahead.
I exclaimed to myself,
“This is too good to be true!”
I veered from you,
More lonelier than before,
A coward and foolish too.
You caught up to me,
Blindsiding me,
Knocking me off my feet,
No longer touching the ground.
My hot blooded steed,
You disheveled, uprooted and conquered me.
And I glimpsed the dark horses that we left in the distance.
We took off together,
I knew what to do,
So I leaned into you,
Then whispered my prayer:
“Lord please show me how to tighten my grip,
Because I don’t want to lose my hold over you.”
….Now I am Yours and you are Mine!!!
