No wonder the Mute swan population is still increasing as these are aggressive birds. I know, I got nipped on the wrist because my long-sleeved blouse looked as white as the bread that I fed them. But of course, that nip was to get the bread in my hand and startled me without any injuries. Pay close attention to them, that is key to enjoying a close up view.Juvenile Mute Swan, Cygnus olor, Photo by Marcia Verleta
They are still a great ornamental addition to parks and estates. Just look at how they behave in the warm sun near or on a lake. The paddle boat was the least disturbing way to get these shots.
These Mute Swans waited for us to open our patio doors each morning. They nipped at the other birds to get the best view and spots for food. Otherwise, everyone got along beautifully!
My fascination with the idea of meeting them is now fulfilled. I can honestly say that I was not disappointed. Some animals are what they seem to be. The Mute Swan is somewhat fearless, and this fascinates me, especially because they look fragile and delicate. Well take my advice, never judge this book by its cover, it will surprise you, incredibly.
